From idea to a video: How do I work with my clients?
Jan 23, 2025

Every great video starts with the same factor – the idea. When you’re a creator, new ideas always pop out in your head unexpectedly. Whether it’s on a walk in the park, watching a new movie, or cooking. You instantly grab your phone and write it down. This is where the journey starts.
There's a long path to developing the video in front of you. You work hard on the script and do the necessary deep research. Once it’s ready, you record it down. Brilliant! Now time for editing. You do cuts, titles… Suddenly you realize the video doesn’t look as good as you imagined. This is the moment you hire a good video editor. Here’s how it will look.
First Step: Understanding the client’s vision. Learning their style.
You’re probably afraid. “What if I pay for an editor and he won’t match my vision?”, “What if the video won’t be authentic enough, because I didn’t edit it?”. These questions keep attacking your head.
Every video is a new journey, a new project to understand. Because every client has a different vision of the project, my mission is to understand it, match it as well as possible, and eventually make it even better.
I always prefer to have a call with my clients. It’s also the way to meet each other. You’ll be working with someone, who’ll help you create something very special and close to your heart. You don’t want to give this responsibility to someone, who doesn’t give a damn about your content.
On a call, we discuss the details, style, and expectations. (This is also the moment I tell you the price, but that’s just a formal side of the process.)
Then the production begins…
I create a Notion document that contains all the details about your style, like brand colors, favorite music, types of transitions, pacing, etc.
Second Step: I work on a free demo, to make sure.
I like my clients to be sure they want my service. It’s the way to build trust between each other. It’s very common for me to send the first minute of the video to my client for free or even for a very small amount. It’s risky, right, but it’s always worth it.
This way you make sure I can deliver the video in the best quality. You’ll be way more willing to collaborate after this process.
Once you accept the demo, I can proceed to editing the full video. The roller coaster is picking up speed…
Third Step: Editing the first draft
Although you accepted the first 1 minute, I am not sure you’ll be happy with the final 20 minutes.
The editing probably took me a while. I am ready with the first version of your video and I will send it to you via video-sharing service Frame.io. On this website, you can watch the whole project and point out the moments you want to have improved.
I need to deliver the best video possible and this is the moment our visions meet. It’s a very magical moment when your video is almost ready and now waiting for your voice.
Fourth Step: Final touches and revisions
I’ll be honest with you - very rarely a video doesn’t require revisions. It’s because of the human nature to polish the video to its best version. Especially when you’re a creator and every new video is like a masterpiece for you. And it should be!
I send you the video (with watermark), you send the revisions, then I send the final version. Your video is ready!
Final Step: The payment and sharing process
Once the video is ready, we can proceed to the payment. The version of the video, that’s ready to be uploaded, will be sent to you after finishing the payment process. To make it as safe as possible, I use a service called Useme.com. With this tool you can pay for the project with any method you want (PayPal, Skrill, Mastercard, VISA, etc.) and be 100% sure the project will be delivered to you right after the payment.
It’s very easy and quick.
